- The sigil of the Reeds, this is the indomitable lizard-lion.
- Small but prolific, these fellows cause more irritation to the eyes and skin of the unwary.
- Not just ugly as sin, also toxic to us *and* the fish we consume.
- He might be edible, but since the jaw strength on him is such that he can literally chomp an arm straight through, he’s not likely on the menu often.
- Quite possibly the beastie on the Straasa standards??
- Large enough when grown to require two hands to hold, this bloke causes death to any creature who is foolish enough to consume it. And again, ugly to boot!
- Nowhere as large as their giant counterparts, these uglies are just as toxic and tend to be much more aggressive. Not that they can move super fast, of course.
This is a collection of critters that would likely make a number of appearances in Straasa swamplands, but unless a stroke of particularly potent luck is involved, they’re *not* the ones we’d eat

Considering that the alligator snapping turtle is threatened in part due to over-hunting, it may be on the menu more often than you think.
Hopefully we all know better than to “noodle” for our dinner (also know as the stick-your-hand-into-the-muck-and-see-what-bites-it fishing method).

okay, samnys the smartass…I’m going for appearances here rather than realities. The monitor above happens to be one of several different “toxic” lizards found in or near swamps or marshlands, but it was the ugliest and seemed to bear the most striking resemblance to the Straasa lizard. There are plenty of turtles that live in the Straasa swamplands, as well as a few tortoises who inhabit our nearby forested areas too. Honestly, we’re not too bad off for meat; we just don’t have people who are able to hunt or farm much for us!
